Internet Marketing Rules Blog: Affiliate Programs And PPC To Boost ...

If you want to have more free time and stress less when it comes to marketing online, you should know that this is very possible. But it?s up to you to implement the marketing strategies that will allow you to relax and stress less often, when it comes to earning more money online.

I?m sure the purpose of you starting your own online business was so that you could gain more free time, make more money while working less, do the things that you enjoy doing, and not to have a boss anymore.

These are excellent reasons to start your own online business, but if you don?t have the ?know-how? of how to make these things happen for you, then you?re just wasting time.

In today?s lesson, I want to share with you some marketing strategies that can help you to earn more money in your online business while working less. These are strategies that I use myself to promote my website online, and you should know that it?s quite easy for you to use these strategies also in your online business too. Here?s the first strategy that I use:

1) Affiliate programs

Starting your own affiliate program is something that is highly recommended. It?s the fastest way to get other people to start promoting your product, and getting you lots of traffic simply and easily. You can easily start your own affiliate program by using services like ?Clickbank?, ?Commission Junction?, or ?Paydotcom?.

All 3 of the affiliate program services can help you to launch your own affiliate program and get you to start receiving the traffic and sales in your business that you are looking for immediately. After you launch your affiliate program, you will have to set a commission for every time an affiliate gets a sale for your product.

Generally, the average commission rate is about 50%. So if you sell a $20 product, for every sale that your affiliate gets for you, you will earn $10, and they will earn $10. Plus, you get access to the customer name also? allowing you to get backend sales simply and easily. This is a great way to boost your business, and it?s something that I recommend you doing today. Here?s another way to boost your sales and profits:

2) Pay per click advertising

Pay per click advertising (PPC) is an awesome way to start getting more new targeted traffic to your website. You will want to test out this way of getting traffic, because it is definitely worth your time. The 2 PPC programs I recommend for you trying out are: Google Adwords, and Microsoft Adcenter.

Both of these services can help you to get the traffic and sales that you desire in your business. Now there are many other PPC programs out there on the internet, but these 2 will get you the most high quality traffic that you are looking for. So consider using them today.

Be sure to use these 2 techniques in your online business today. You?ll benefit from it incredibly.

Good luck with using these 2 online strategies today in your internet business.

Just been reminded how little I have thought about this RP and how lacking in depth it is. I was just wondering, what exactly happened in the war? I think we should all decide on the truth and details here so that I can put it on the front page. I do apologise!

"I was not really thinking about the war having sides exactly either, it was more Necos saying "The more people we kill the better, look at how strong we are!"

I guess there could have been "Clans" In the war, like 20 of them. All trying to kill as many of the other clans as possible, targeting the other clans due to them being a big group of people. That way there could have been spies in the clans, deserters and other such betrayals that could anger them.

I think Imma make a thread about the wars back story now."

Grand Canyon as old as the dinosaurs, suggests new study led by CU-Boulder

Friday, November 30, 2012

An analysis of mineral grains from the bottom of the western Grand Canyon indicates it was largely carved out by about 70 million years ago -- a time when dinosaurs were around and may have even peeked over the rim, says a study led by the University of Colorado Boulder.

The new research pushes back the conventionally accepted date for the formation of the Grand Canyon in Arizona by more than 60 million years, said CU-Boulder Assistant Professor Rebecca Flowers. The team used a dating method that exploits the radioactive decay of uranium and thorium atoms to helium atoms in a phosphate mineral known as apatite, said Flowers, a faculty member in CU-Boulder's geological sciences department.

The helium atoms were locked in the mineral grains as they cooled and moved closer to the surface during the carving of the Grand Canyon, she said. Temperature variations at shallow levels beneath the Earth's surface are influenced by topography, and the thermal history recorded by the apatite grains allowed the team to infer how much time had passed since there was significant natural excavation of the Grand Canyon, Flowers said.

"Our research implies that the Grand Canyon was directly carved to within a few hundred meters of its modern depth by about 70 million years ago," said Flowers. A paper on the subject by Flowers and Professor Kenneth Farley of the California Institute of Technology was published online Nov. 29 in Science magazine.

Flowers said there is significant controversy among scientists over the age and evolution of the Grand Canyon. A variety of data suggest that the Grand Canyon had a complicated history, and the entire modern canyon may not have been carved all at the same time. Different canyon segments may have evolved separately before coalescing into what visitors see today.

In a 2008 study, Flowers and colleagues showed that parts of the eastern section of the Grand Canyon likely developed some 55 million years ago, although the bottom of that ancient canyon was above the height of the current canyon rim at that time before it subsequently eroded to its current depth.

Over a mile deep in places, Arizona's steeply sided Grand Canyon is about 280 miles long and up to 18 miles wide in places. Visited by more than 5 million people annually, the iconic canyon was likely carved in large part by an ancestral waterway of the Colorado River that was flowing in the opposite direction millions of years ago, said Flowers.

"An ancient Grand Canyon has important implications for understanding the evolution of landscapes, topography, hydrology and tectonics in the western U.S. and in mountain belts more generally," said Flowers. The study was funded in part by the National Science Foundation.

Whether helium is retained or lost from the individual apatite crystals is a function of temperatures in the rocks of Earth's crust, she said. When temperatures of the apatite grains are greater than 158 degrees Fahrenheit, no helium is retained in the apatite, while at temperatures below 86 degrees F, all of the helium is retained.

"The main thing this technique allows us to do is detect variations in the thermal structure at shallow levels of the Earth's crust," she said. "Since these variations are in part induced by the topography of the region, we obtained dates that allowed us to constrain the timeframe when the Grand Canyon was incised."

Flowers and Farley took their uranium/thorium/helium dating technique to a more sophisticated level by analyzing the spatial distribution of helium atoms near the margin of individual apatite crystals. "Knowing not just how much helium is present in the grains but also how it is distributed gives us additional information about whether the rocks had a rapid cooling or slow cooling history," said Flowers.

There have been a number of studies in recent years reporting various ages for the Grand Canyon, said Flowers. The most popular theory places the age of the Grand Canyon at 5 million to 6 million years based on the age of gravel washed downstream by the ancestral Colorado River. In contrast, a 2008 study published in Science estimated the age of the Grand Canyon to be some 17 million years old after researchers dated mineral deposits inside of caves carved in the canyon walls.

Paleontologists believe dinosaurs were wiped out when a giant asteroid collided with Earth 65 million years ago, resulting in huge clouds of dust that blocked the sun's rays from reaching Earth's surface, cooling the planet and killing most plants and animals.

Because of the wide numbers of theories, dates and debates regarding the age of the Grand Canyon, geologists have redoubled their efforts, said Flowers. "There has been a resurgence of work on this problem over the past few years because we now have some new techniques that allow us to date rocks that we couldn't date before," she said.

While the dating research for the new study was done at Caltech, Flowers recently set up her own lab at CU-Boulder with the ability to conduct uranium/thorium/helium dating.

"If it were simple, I think we would have solved the problem a long time ago," said Flowers. "But the variety of conflicting information has caused scientists to argue about the age of the Grand Canyon for more than 150 years. I expect that our interpretation that the Grand Canyon formed some 70 million years ago is going to generate a fair amount of controversy, and I hope it will motivate more research to help solve this problem."

Ravens top Steelers 13-10, control AFC North race

PITTSBURGH (AP) ? Terrell Suggs isn't ready to declare the race for the AFC North title over.

Besides, even if it were after the Baltimore Ravens' 13-10 victory over the Steelers on Sunday night, the veteran linebacker knows Pittsburgh still has the upper hand in the rivals' ultimate litmus test.

"They got it where it counts," Suggs said. "That's all that really matters is championships. These little independent battles is good for morale but until we catch them in the ring race ... we'll take the win but we've still got to catch them in that component of the rivalry."

The Ravens (8-2) took a significant step in that direction by shutting down the Steelers (6-4) and backup quarterback Byron Leftwich. The veteran completed 18 of 39 passes for 201 yards in place of injured starter Ben Roethlisberger. Leftwich ran for a score but also threw a drive-killing interception and was sacked three times.

"We went out there and we tried to make plays," Leftwich said. "Some went our way, some didn't. And it just wasn't enough."

The rematch comes in Baltimore in two weeks.

"It's like halftime," Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said. "It's like we won the first half and the second half is coming up."

The Steelers certainly hope it goes a little better than the first.

Pittsburgh was a clock chewing, drive extending machine under Roethlisberger. There were considerably more fits and starts with Leftwich under center. The Steelers converted just 5 of 17 (29 percent) of third downs, well below their season average or 49 percent.

"We never found a rhythm," Leftwich said.

The Ravens weren't much better. Joe Flacco completed 20 of 32 passes for 164 yards. Running back Ray Rice managed just 40 yards on 20 carries, forcing the Ravens to rely on an old standby make the difference.

Typically, that's not a problem. But this is not a typical year in Baltimore.

The defense came in ranked 27th in the league in yards allowed and is missing spiritual leader Ray Lewis, who is on the injured reserve-return list with a triceps injury.

The emotional linebacker made the trip anyway, giving his teammates a lift in the locker room.

"We haven't been playing the best the past couple weeks, or the whole season, some people say," said Baltimore cornerback Corey Graham, who intercepted Leftwich in the third quarter. "We've just got to find a way to get wins and that's what we were able to do today."

The Steelers hosted a number of franchise greats, including Hall-of-Famers Lynn Swann, John Stallworth and Joe Greene.

Their presence was appreciated, though it did little to make up for the absence of safety Troy Polamalu ? out again with a right calf injury ? or Roethlisberger, the franchise's current standard bearer.

Roethlisberger offered to do everything he could to help Leftwich win his first game as a starter in more than six years and insisted all week the offense wouldn't change.

For a fleeting moment, Roethlisberger appeared to be right.

Leftwich went deep on the game's first snap trying to hit Mike Wallace, drawing a pass interference penalty on Baltimore's Cary Williams. Two plays later Leftwich ? who joked all week about his lack of speed ? bought time in the pocket, rolled to his right and made for the sideline.

Rather than slide or duck out of bounds, the 250-pound Leftwich got a block and raced ? in a manner of speaking ? 31 yards for a touchdown to give the Steelers a 7-0 lead. Roethlisberger lifted his good arm in the air in celebration after the longest run of Leftwich's career, and the play seemed to give Pittsburgh a sense of confidence.

It didn't last. At least, not on offense.

The Steelers' second possession ended with a Wallace fumble that Ed Reed returned to the Pittsburgh 14. Baltimore managed only a field goal, but it seemed to bring the Steelers back to earth.

If that didn't, Jones did.

The explosive return man drifted under a Drew Butler punt late in the first half, sprinted up the field, cut to the right and zipped untouched to the end zone for his third return touchdown of the season to give Baltimore a 10-7 lead.

"They were trying to set up the outside wall, but I saw nothing but open field to the right so I thought, 'Why not go this way?'" Jones said.

Baltimore moved in front 13-7 in the third quarter on Justin Tucker's second field goal, more than enough to help the Ravens take a major step toward their second straight division title.

"They talked about how it was going to be a physical game, how it was going to come down to the end and it lived up to it," Graham said. "It was definitely a great experience. I look forward to it in a couple weeks."

NOTES: Baltimore TE Dennis Pitta left the game with a concussion in the first quarter and did not return ... Pittsburgh RB Isaac Redman also left with a concussion and did not return ... Pittsburgh RB Rashard Mendenhall had 33 yards in his first game in a month ... The Steelers travel to Cleveland next week while the Ravens play in San Diego.

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence strike romantic sparks in 'Silver Linings Playbook'

Jennifer Lawrence is remarkable in a role that's demanding in its range.

By Peter Rainer,?Film critic / November 16, 2012

Bradley Cooper?s Pat in writer-director David O. Russell?s ?Silver Linings Playbook? is a bipolar cuckolded former schoolteacher in suburban Philadelphia who has recently emerged from eight months in a mental institution. He was put there after beating up the beau of the wife he believes still loves him and wants to win back (despite her restraining order). Living with his uneasily protective parents (well played by Jacki Weaver and Robert De Niro), the hyperjumpy Pat tries to pound himself into shape in order to rescue a marriage he is too delusional to see is over.

Fortunately, both for Pat and for the movie, Jennifer Lawrence?s tough-talking neighbor Tiffany, a recent widow with her own share of mental baggage, is on hand to salvage the situation. She dragoons Pat into rehearsing as her partner for an upcoming local dance competition. We can see what he can?t: Tiffany, and not his wife, is his true soul mate.

Russell directs the movie almost as if Pat were behind the camera; the visual rhythms are manic and short-fused. In every other way, this neo-?David and Lisa? sugarcoats the sufferings of these people in order to boost a sentimental wrap-up that?s right out of ?Dancing With the Stars.? It?s slick stuff, but Lawrence, in her most high-low, sad-comic turn yet, is remarkable. Grade: B (Rated R for language and some sexual content/nudity.)

'House' director looks to adapt UMSL scholar's novel for film | UMSL ...

Julian Higgins

Los Angeles-based writer and director Julian Higgins is working on a film adaptation of the novel "The Inverted Forest" by John Dalton, director of the MFA in Creative Writing program at UMSL.

Los Angeles-based director and writer Julian Higgins has emerged as a young talent within the film industry. He?s received wide acclaim for his short film ?Thief? and his turn directing an episode of the popular television show ?House? in its final season. He?s next looking to make his feature-film directorial debut with a possible adaptation of the novel ?The Inverted Forest? by John Dalton, director of the MFA in Creative Writing?program at the University of Missouri?St. Louis.

Higgins, a native of the Northeast U.S., was in the midst of only his second trip to the Midwest and first visit to St. Louis when UMSL Daily caught up with him. He will speak at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 15 in 402 J.C. Penney Building/Conference Center at UMSL as part of The Center for the Humanities? Monday Noon Series.

Higgins plans to talk filmmaking, the creative process and how to break into a career in the arts. But first, he chatted with UMSL Daily about early success, adapting Dalton?s ?The Inverted Forest? for the big screen and what it takes to get to where he is today.

You directed an episode of ?House? during its last season. How did that materialize? And how did your success with your short film ?Thief? play into it?

It was a direct result of the film (?Thief?), which was a nice thing in Hollywood, frankly. One of the first events for the film was the College Television Awards, which are informally known as the student Emmys. It?s really a television-oriented event. But it?s for student work from all over the country. They have a category for short film ? narrative film. We won the best drama and best director award at that event. That was the first event that happened with the film. And the presenter of the best director award at the College Television Awards was Greg Yaitanes who was the producing director of ?House.? So I met him when he gave me that award. We talked and that relationship started from there. We met a few times, he invited me to shadow him on the show and I ended up staying for almost five months. And then, as a result of that relationship developing over that time and him seeing that I was ready for the shot, he gave me that episode.

Has the episode you directed for ?House? led to further opportunities?

Everyone was telling me not to get my hopes up. It?s hard to get an episode of television. It?s pretty much impossible for someone my age and my level of experience to direct a show at that level. So that alone has opened up a lot of doors for me in the television world. And also it?s made me much more viable to do a first feature of some kind. I already had a feature agent, but now I have television agent and things have sort of moved quickly since then because of the heat that was generated from that.

Your short film ?Thief? has an interesting plot involving Saddam Hussein during his time on the run and an encounter with an acquaintance from much earlier in his life. What inspired you to write and direct this film?

In 2003 when Saddam Hussein was captured, I read about it in Newsweek and I just thought it was a very interesting character in a very interesting place ? a dictator who has absolute power and then loses it overnight and what that experience is like for a human being. And then to think about what Saddam Hussein was doing in those months when no one knew where he was when he was driving around the country on his own on the lam, really. I just thought that would be a fascinating character to explore in a movie. I didn?t know what the story might be. When I went to the American Film Institute and southern California looking the way it does, I actually had an opportunity to finally make that movie in a place that would work to set the movie in. I?m from the Northeast, so there wasn?t really a place to make that movie. And I just figured I would go for it. I started doing a lot of research and that?s when the story really came together the way it does in the movie.

How did you come to be involved with ?The Inverted Forest? by John Dalton?

I read about ?The Inverted Forest? last winter. The Daily Beast put out a list of the best books of 2011 that the New York Times book review missed, which is the ideal list for someone like me to be reading. Optioning a piece of work and adapting it is a great way of getting a project going. Someone in my position couldn?t get a giant book. And I?m not necessarily sure I would want it. But I read the description of (?The Inverted Forest?). The subject matter really called out to me. And it sounded like a book I was going to like. So I went to a book store and got it, and it exceeded my expectations. I just really fell in love with it and reached out to (Dalton) with a letter. Six months later, I?m (in St. Louis).

How did the novel appeal to you as a prospective film?

First of all, it?s absolutely beautiful writing. And I just really like reading gorgeous writing. On top of that, it?s the kind of story I?m interested in. It?s about people on the margins who consider themselves outsiders or feel like outsiders. You know, they?re trying to find their place in the world and it?s a small, very human story and I just think it felt like a great first film for me that?s character driven. It?s a very unique group of characters. I?m really drawn to sort of loners and outsiders and telling stories about trying to find your place in the world. It really just called out to me in that way. I think the small canvas is where you can best get at the big ideas. And I think it?s such a small intimate, character-driven story. That can be closely explored in a movie. It?ll be an independently made film, I?m sure. But it offers me a very rich palette to work with.

What?s next for ?The Inverted Forest??

John and I have been figuring out the details of the option for a few months now. It?s about to happen. I?ve been outlining, and he and I have been talking about it. I?m hoping that I will have a draft in pretty good shape by the end of the year ? the idea being to make it next year.

Any words of advice to aspiring filmmakers?

(Becoming a professional filmmaker) is much more possible than people would lead you to believe. I think, really, the important thing is to practice. I had the luxury of realizing in middle school that I wanted to make movies. So I had been practicing for years and years, making little projects and just shooting all the time. By the time I got to college, I already had a lot of practice under my belt. I really think it all comes down to the material in the end. You know, there?s a lot of politics and it?s who you know and blah, blah, blah. But you can know everybody and not have good material and never go anywhere. If you know this is what you?re interested in, you should just get a camera and start shooting stuff, experimenting and practicing.

pot initiatives on the ballots in Washington State and Colorado are likely to pass in November

I am anxious to see whether it's Romney or Obama that crushes these states' laws under his heel.

  • | |#

    yet another reason why...

    WASHINGTON IS BETTER

(way less police power, way more privacy, over the counter needles, less draconian punishments in criminal law, no drunk in public laws, etc. etc.)

comparing to california of course, the epicenter of (political ) suckitude

  • ShagNasty| |#

Yeah WA is pretty dope for a blue state, I've had way better luck with cops not being douchebags here than in UT or ID. My biggest gripe with the state is really just the cigarette taxes, which are rendered a non-issue by my close proximity to the great state of Idaho.

  • | |#

cheers. WA state's blue legislature is often stymied by our very libertarian constitution (we have a right to privacy)

for example, seattle has tried OVER AND OVER to pass bullshit restrictions on gun carry. their mayor tried an 'executive order' that everybody including the state attorney general said was ILLEGAL to ban guns from city parks. a smart lawyer showed up with a gun and called police himself to report that he was there with a gun. he promptly got a trespass notice (don't come back with a gun) and had his lawsuit. seattle rescinded the law

having a liberal legislature AND a libertarian constitution works pretty well

we also have no income tax

i can't search a vehicle "incident to arrest" like in most states, a constitutional fiction that is a justified fishing expedition. war on drugs crap

our miranda law is good (not too restrictive on cops, since miranda warnings are an invented thang) search and seizure is excellent (very restrictive on cops), and we have a great balance between good accountability for bad cops AND due process rights so we have redress if bogus accusations are made

i love reading case law out of california. the shit that the cops can LEGALLY do down there is fucking insane.

my favorite is that in cali, it's not a seizure if a cop yells "stop" and a guy runs. it's only a seizure if and when he STOPS for the cop./ thus, a cop can just say "stop" and if the guy runs and dumps drugs, THEN he has pc. it's insane

  • mad libertarian guy| |#

And the SPD makes up for these libertarian constitutional deficiencies by being one of the most corrupt police forces in America.

But don't worry, guys! There is a libertarian constitution.

  • | |#

    lol. complete rubbish

and before you cite the doj report, have you actuall read it?

because of course you believe the DOJ's subjective analysis about terrorism, militia threats, and all the other stuff they blow out of proportion right?

i've seen zero evidence the SPD has a problem with corruption

the DOJ claims they have a problem with uses of force, which MAY be true. although, as i have quoted stats before, they have a LOWER per capita UOF rate than other similarly sized agencies in similarly sized cities

i believe that SPD is a MEDIOCRE police agency. i know they have taken rejects from our field training program (more rigorous) and those guys have done fine at SPD

SPD *may* have a UOF problem, but the only two examples from the DOJ report i have ever seen cited were ridiculous.

even seattle's liberal extremist mayor thought the report problematic

and of course a federal agency like the DOJ would never bias a report that would give them substantially more power over local law enforcement

nope. i mean reason peeps have never opined that federal law enforcement agencies tend to want to increase their power.

On one side of the argument are those who say the main responsibility of the university is to protect its students, faculty, and administrators. Since Holmes dropped out of the university before the BETA group could meet, the argument goes, they had very little responsibility for him.

Emphasis added. Is anyone arguing that the university was supposed to protect *him*?

  • T| |#

I thought the main responsibility of the university was education, but what do I know.

  • Rich| |#

    Good point, T.

It always irks me when some entity claims "Your safety is our main concern" or some such.

  • | |#

My sister in law recently became a public school teacher professional parasite. One day when the discussion of age of consent laws came up she assured me that she knew the law because "our first job it to protect the children". Hmm, they don't protect the children from the other children or from the teachers. The parents are from who they are "protecting the children".

I just quit. Asking about educating the children, or whom you were protecting them from might have resulted in a murder.

  • | |#

ime, teachers are woefully ignorant of even these laws (age of consent) and child stuff in general

several have told me it's illegal for them to physically discipline a child (it's not. under the RCW, they have those rights. it's against SCHOOL district policy)

i also had one call because a 16 yr old was getting #$(#$(ed by a 40 yr old. sorry, that's within the age of consent and not a crime

they also send kids home with the belief that if a parent hits them, it's "child abuse". i've had tons of kids call to report their parent for "child abuse".

like the girl who called her mom a cunt and got a slap in the face

i told her "don't call your mom a cunt"
